In Conversation
2023- Ongoing

I am currently investigating the way I connect with and envision the natural environment through landscape painting. As the climate crisis looms over our everyday I am increasingly motivated to challenge the humanist perspective of our material world, that charges most human practices today.

By extending the tradition of western landscape painting to embrace themes of ecocentrism, I engage with the idea that all agents that support the ecosphere have intrinsic value.

In these works, the 'environment' is not a separate entity that we can step back and observe, manipulate add or subtract to in isolated instances. Everything is in conversation, dependent on and vital for one another.

I acknowledge the Jagera people and the Turrbal people as the Traditional Custodians of Magandjin (Brisbane), the lands on which I make artwork. I pay my respects to Jagera and Turrbal Elders past, present and emerging.
